Behind Her Mask

by Lyrical Heart   Aug 5, 2008

Every time the world changes she recoils
Lies are scattered at her feet,
Injustice shadows her path.
Zealous to please, desperate to fit in,
Accustom to shame a misery.
But I know the girl that lies under the mask,
Every inch of her wishes to be free.
The mask never falls, only changes with the times.
How dearly I wanted to show her love.

But that was a job for someone else.
A different person with different tactics.
Rabid with life and just as full of pain.
Ruined was the past, her new mask full of light,
Yet I knew the girl beneath it all I smile when I say so.
