You may recall...

by Helene   Aug 5, 2008

You may remember the tone of her voice,
but the words have slipped your memory.
You may recall a scent of spring,
You thought was pure imaginary.
You may remember the color of her eyes,
But not the winter there inside.
You'll never see her face again,
Nor know what she had to hide.

She may have shed a tear or two,
but never told you why,
She may have seemed a little blue,
But laughed between the cries.
And you recall the touch of her,
but not her shivering fingers,
She may have left you in your sleep,
with answers left to linger.

It happens once in a destiny,
that someone's heart is broken,
along with a shattered memory,
and poetic vows unspoken.
She may have shown you who to be,
And broken up the heart in you,
But you never looked enough to see,
That hers was broken too.

You may have felt a little sad,
To wake and find her gone.
You may remember what you had,
But not her expression all along,
You may have thought she did you wrong,
But you never did deserve her,
Cause you may remember the lines of the song,
But never why it hurt her.
