I Could Have Been

by Jemma   Aug 6, 2008

You know I could have been a soldier
Shame I hate to see death in the eyes
In either the dead's or the living's
Such a shame...

I could have been an actress
Such a waste, wouldn't you say
That I prefer to live in truth and not in lies?

You know I could have been a pilot
But I prefer to stay grounded
A reminder of who I am

But who I am... such a mystery to me
Do you know?
Do I know who I ever could have been?
Had I the heart to betray my own illusion

You know I could have been
But existence is over-rated
I prefer to live in the abstract
My own imagination but...

I could have been a soldier
But such hate is in me when I see death in the eyes
And such fear that it is my making
