Remember Us

by minsky10   Aug 7, 2008

I remember the day we drifted. Just as we began, I wasn't good enough. Forgotten before I left.
When days drift into decades and memories to dreams, fate doesn't treat us fairly.
A world to small to let me forget, but your uncaring heart, has forgotten my face and name.
No soul mate pretense but love enough to share, dreams return me the time I was your world. When only your eyes could make my breath meaning and your lips give my life sense.
I should have walked away when I realized I'd never exceed her presence. Time gave me hope turned falsely to belief, as that belief spawned, so did despair.
One too many times you walked into her arms. Her knowing stare stained my ignorance, flinging a smile, deflecting deceiving thoughts, putting faith were suspicion reigned.
Stupidity is no excuse, but lies can cushion any blow. Even yours.
Say my name like it's a passion, instead of a disease, when you still remembered it. Look at me like I'm all you see instead of a shadow of some bad dream and love me like I'm the only one, like you never did.
The days when we were close, fictional memories, these days when I'm nothing play painful reality.
To move on, to forget, bliss I cannot touch. Sit here and wait, delusion of a one day that may trigger... you'll see my face and know my name and save me from my torment.
