Laying here in my arms

by shazminta*   Aug 8, 2008

She struggles to open her eyes
each movement an effort.
I roll my fingers lightly across her lifeless skin,
Traces of her own vomit cover her limbs.
her breath's become shallow
her spirit begins to weaken
she's not as invincible as she thought
she's not as strong as she seemed
each strand of her long golden hair
just as fragile and flapid as the other
her attempts to speak portray her endless courage
and drains any strength she had left inside her
her beautiful dark eyes capture the
reflection of the bright moonlight.
the gleam as weak as her soul which i could
feel withering away as she lay here in my arms.
the whole world suddenly shrunk
it was only us
only Now
And only this moment that mattered..
