The Let Down

by brie kelly wise   Aug 9, 2008

My mother taught me to smile at every passerby
There's trouble in the words that used to slide
In retrospect, telling tall tales played an ample factor
Hit the lights and we won't decide too far after
Have you ever seen such feeble legs crawl up to you
I guess they don't come as strong as they used to
Have you ever seen a girl play games with her own mind
What happens when she changes her pace at the starting line
The lifehouse runs so far when the light can't hold the ocean up
Take control, don't lose your mind when all you need is love
For now, tell them how you feel, tell them it's surreal
How you dream, how you better your life, how you conceal
What you think about them, show them you can live your life
Twenty years, beaten down, you won't die under the knife
This will get so much better, but once you're in you'll never get out
And who knows, when you play around, you'll let yourself down
