The Expendable

by RussianRendezvous   Aug 10, 2008

True color fading to spectral decay,
Paints over twilight in shades of gray.
The only truth here is a virgin dead,
With the honest hands that made her bed.
A heart that could be torn could not be ripped.
Walked the ice but never slipped.
This angel now sleeps in ash and soot.
Rest. In. Pieces, underfoot.

Who hasn't bled yet?
Shoot to kill.
Let the purest fall...
Yet spare the narcissistic this humble thrill,
They aren't here at all...

"Collateral Damage",
You've made a mess,
Call your cleanup crew...
But soon enough they'll be no one left,
To do the job for you...

While I bend to kiss the bomb-hit lips.
Like broken sterns of sunken ships.
Now our angel sleeps in ash and soot.

Rest. In. Peace, too simply put...

You have a brilliant vocabulary. I'm not quite sure what the story is though, a mordant look upon war? Intertwined with an almost sarcastic feeling of love? Or am I way of the mark? Apart from not having much of an idea what it was about, this was a wonderful write. Well done

I'm speechless. This is so amazing. I love it! Your use of words was wonderful and it flowed quite well. The imagery was also very strong. Keeps up the beautiful work.

And a unique combo. War and love, makes me wonder why no one has thought of before but original.
