Cheshire Cat

by Curing the Comon Cliche   Aug 10, 2008

Smile my dear
Show off those teeth
The Cheshire cat smile
With fears underneath

Smile dear reader
With tears in your eyes
They won't know the difference
Unless they try

Smile for me
We all know the end
After the rabbit hole
You are just pretend

Don't cry my dear
I know how it goes
The tears trace a path
For more stories untold

Don't cry dear reader
The Cheshire cat's dead
He disappeared from the world
Leaving his smile and his head

Don't cry for me
That's how I'll be remembered
As a Cheshire cat doll
Smiling forever

Huge inspiration from Something corporate - walking by

One of their best songs.

I didn't realize I was the Cheshire cat till the very end of the poem.

I just listened to the song...

i think, deep down, we're all kinda the cat, jesse. with our huge plastic grins and witty commentary that's all just makebelieve..we all disappear at the end of the day...

    great job.
