The Hoops We Jump Through

by Curing the Comon Cliche   Aug 11, 2008

Carnival of blinding lights
Clowns dangle from silver string
Smile faces and carnival rides
Moonlight blue on everything

The dancers twirl with red ribbon
The freak show is on parade
The lions growl in cold cages
Nobody's tired, but it's getting late

Back through the crowd is a lineup
Couples stand in pairs of two
Waiting to climb a'top a platform
See what they must jump through

Ask your lover what they want
Then try as hard as you can
Jump through hoops for those you love
They'll catch you if you land

Carnival music is playing
The children smile delight
Run around children, break all the rules
In the end it will all be alright

Golden thread and flaming hoops
The things we would jump through
But the ones we love that love us most
Love us, not what we do
