Driving Home

by Orchid Man   Aug 12, 2008

Orchid Lady, I am now on my way home and I can't get there fast enough
I think the sun must know something exciting is happening as it is smiling all over the landscape
The car started at the first turn of the key so it too must want to come home as much as I do
My heart hopes to find you well again as you are first and foremost in my mind.

Sweetheart, you wouldn't think in two days I could miss you so much, but I have
My two nights alone have seemed like two years so I am glad my time away is over at last
I have no doubt there are lovers who miss each other, yet to have been without you -
- has made me realise my days would pale into insignificance if you were not part of my life.

For two days the wind has howled and tried to become my chilly master yet you were in my thoughts
This morning that old man wind packed its windy bags and set off to annoy someone else -
- no wind is going to come between you and me because you have the Angels on your side
Angels that have sat patiently beside you and stood guard over my Orchid Lady.

I had placed your photograph beside this rough camp bed and felt you here beside me
That sweet smile upon your face kept me company throughout the dark, windy nights
As I fell asleep your arms encircled me and my dreams were of our Never, never land
Tonight we shall be together in reality - free from dreams and bonded together by true love.

Up ahead I can see faint lights of street lamps; although they are a long way off I begin to smile
The sun beams in my car windows as though it is sharing these moments with me -
- How I wish there were no speed restrictions for I would drive home on the crests of waves
Orchid Lady, I will be home soon to the one precious gift in my life - I will be home to you.
