Love in the midst of war
I think it's the great kind of love
Blood shed, houses burned and crumbled
Fire and brimstone raining from the sky
The smiles of a nation dwindling like an hourglass
Only time will tell if this nation is heading for glory or dismay
Pain and misery, children crying at the loss of their parents, death
Fathers and mothers on their knees begging to see their precious ones again
Innocent animals frightened and slaughtered, grass and trees burned
This alone is not glory, or worthy of praise
Because even if we are victorious, the lives lost still rise high and surround us
War is darkness, war is pain, war is misery
War is eternally wounding, war is destruction, war is suffering
War alone is not brilliance and uplifting
But amongst the blackness of this sky, a light shines
As the fire and flames flare up in raging storm, there is a love
A man and a woman, striving to love in the center of a vicious war
She surrenders her live to him and it's his greatest treasure
Her beauty, her laughter, her deepest concern, all of her she gives
And its what brings him to battle every morning
When smoke blacks the sky and his body is weary
When he cries at the sight of death, when he bleeds withered blood
When days of travel pass without rest, she is what carries him on
You are the wind at his back and the arm to support
You are the only reason he is still fighting
Through the greatest tribulation you have stood firm by his side
This war has lasted a decade and seems coming to no end
He seems to have lost everything; he seems to have nothing left
But he has you, and you have him
So as you rest in this hideaway, while your worry is at its greatest
While years pass with no return, while you wonder if he still loves you
Know, you are his only escape. His love is his only glory in this war
Know every night and day, he dreams of coming back to you
Of holding you in his arms, kissing you like it's the very last
Of seeing the beauty in your eyes, of falling so deep in love with your smile
Its his every dream at night, you are his only dream
If there is any true triumph in this war, it is this. This is what he calls glory
His dreams rid any doubt in the matrimony living so far away
His faith says it was real. It was everlasting. That together this love will never fail
And so genuine are his words
His love carries him like waves across an ocean
Your love is what brings him to shore
His love is power and strength
Your love is beauty and compassion
Together you are perfect, together you are unstoppable
You are his armor, his shield, his sword
He is your protector, your patron of care, your only love
If years of separation, if decades of bitter trials and destruction cannot stop this?
What can? What could ever stop such authority?
Your love is an eternal fire that will forever burn, indifferent to the world
Shouldn't we dream of a love like this?
Shouldn't the whole world dream of a love like this?
I know it's a struggle to carry on, to keep strong
I know more time will pass and waiting for the warmth in his arms will be a burden
I know you may feel like your drifting apart but believe, believe in your heart
But you must keep your faith unyielding, keep your hope steadfast
Because the sky would have fall upon him before he surrenders
A thousand arrows to the chest before his fire wastes away
When he takes his last breathe, when his life flashes before his eyes, he will say your name
His will scream he loves you. He will die loving you
How can you find such greater glory in the midst of a war?
This is beauty in its highest scale
