The Honorable One

by Timothy   Aug 13, 2008

He was a good man, that had bad luck,
Never learned a trade, rarely made a buck;
He fell in love with a woman out of his class,
As the world around him, considered him trash.

She looked down upon him, as most people had done,
A disease, a filth, a word not worth being won;
She was superior, a far higher breed,
He was sludge; a vermin that she decreed.

Love is not easy, and certainly not defined,
The heart doesn't always know what God has designed;
This lady, with an air of prestige,
Suddenly, fell to her knees.

Her world had turned upside and down,
Her money and her family...were not to be found;
Alone in this world, what a terrible fright,
Who could you count on, in the dead of the night?

Sinking into the mud, with a suffocating despair,
Who did she find, in the torrential rain, standing there?
He held out his hand, forgetting all that she had done,
A good man, with bad luck...but still the honorable one.
