Like the Tide

by Jemma   Aug 14, 2008

Like the tide tugging on the bay
Platforms rise to slow the rain
A dampened heart, drowned in pain
Find some hope to fight again
The dark is blind, its sight all spent
I search for a place to lay my head
The light too bright and the sound too quiet
Let me get out. Let me be free.

Quite amazing how you often can capture the core images of your experience in words.... like you are catching strange colored birds and bringing them home.....

    Short but very well written.

"Like the tide tugging on the bay
Platforms rise to slow the rain
A dampened heart, drowned in pain
Find some hope to fight again"

I love your word choice here, very touching.

"The dark is blind, its sight all spent
I search for a place to lay my head
The light too bright and the sound too quiet
Let me get out. Let me be free."

I love those last two lines, absolutely flawless! You are really pleading to just be let out and free. Well expressed. Keep writing, always and forever....
