Mary Had a Little Lamb

by Curing the Comon Cliche   Aug 16, 2008

Dance around the corner, kids
Sing the happy songs
You know not the worlds shadows
Your little song drags on

Nursery rhymes and riddles
They tell you, have no fear
But they bring you to places
You can scream, no one can here

Alouette, gentille Alouette
Lark, oh lovely lark
We'll drag you to the forest
We'll leave you screaming in the dark

Mary had a little lamb
Who's fleece was dark and red
Little kids have nightmares
For reasons of the dead

Reader, you should listen
When the children cry
Because nightmares can be oh so real
Monsters aren't just lies

Remember when you were little?
Cry to mom and dad
There's shadows in the closet
"Oh, sweetie, it's nothing bad"

But you swore you saw it
Did it not seem there?
Now you deny the shadows
Little kids are more aware

Grinding dripping teeth
Scratching on the door
"Sweetie, it's time for bed"
"Don't cry anymore"

Mary had a little lamb
Dripping wet and getting colder
But close your eyes go to sleep
You won't see monsters when you're older

You saw them before. What changed?

Um, so I'm gonna drag some of the stuff I learned this weekend into the comment..or i'm gonna try..

    Dance around the corner, kids
    Sing the happy songs
You know not the worlds shadows
    Your little song drags on

^^ So one of the things we talked about this weekend a lot was loving god like a child. faith because your worst monsters aren't even real..so this just reminded me of that.

    Alouette, gentille Alouette
    Lark, oh lovely lark
We'll drag you to the forest
We'll leave you screaming in the dark

^^ Aloutte j'ette Aloutte...j'ette plumere..Livia taught me that song..makes me sad now..we screamed it off my backwall at the people biking by..

So jesse...this poem was really really dark. it made me cringe and it also dragged me back from cloud nine. which is a good thing..it's a softer landing if i get it that way. um..."God is bigger than the boogy man.."

God gives us protection and keeps us safe and we can take comfort in that. I know that doesn't mean the monsters aren't real ((they are. i believe that..as childish as it is..monsters come in shapes and sizes..)) but even the monsters are in god's control and plan...
