Just Like You

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Aug 18, 2008

Written for Tom late last night in my bed with a flashlight. :)

--

I'd have your mind printed onto an extra small black t-shirt.
Everyone would read in awe and ask where it was purchased.
Then you would become a fad and everyone's mind
would be printed onto t-shirts.
It would be written in white on top of black
all in your hand writing, no matter how sloppy.
It would be different, just like you.

I'd have your soul tattooed onto my lower back.
Everyone would see it and want one just like it.
Then you would become a fad and everyone's soul
would be etched onto skin.
I'd have it light blue, slightly twisted,
and sad yet beautiful, just like you.

I'd have your heart made into a necklace.
Everyone would stare and want one of their own.
Then you would become a fad and everyone's heart
would be made into a necklace.
It would be in sterling silver, but distressed and cracked.
Broken, just like you.

I'd have your tears made into a movie.
Everyone would come to see it, all the film makers would copy.
Then you would become a fad and everyone's tears
would be made into movies.
I'd let the sound of you crying be the soundtrack and
it would be a romantic tragedy, just like you.

I'd have your blood painted onto my nails.
Everyone would see it as a fashion statement and love it.
Then you would become a fad and everyone's blood
would be painted onto nails.
It would be bizarre, but everyone would love it and do it anyways.
It would be dark, just like you.

I'd have your poetry published in a book and it would
be so perfect everyone would copy your writing style.
Then you would become a fad and everyone's poetry
would be published.
I'd make sure to get the cover just right and
have your name really noticeable, just like you.

This was so much different than any other friendship poems Ive come across on this site. Youve out done yourself here, I really enjoyed this because ti wasnt your normal cheesy friendship poem, it was something so much different and created with a unique mindset. I think this was great. Theres nothing I can personally tell you to change, (:

I think this is clever and mostly well written but some of the stanzas work better than others. I like most of them, but I think there's too many 'ideas' and repetitions here, it becomes predictable after a while. However, saying that. It's unique and a sweet sentiment, too.
