Safe In My Ball ... OO

by Danielle   Jun 4, 2004

Sometimes when I think of you
About these horrible days
Touching me, killing me
In all sorts of ways

Sitting in my room
Knowing he would come
Afraid for my life,
Praying for my mum!

I remember in the bath
He came to wash me
Held my head under water
Pleading on my knees

I remember sitting that day
Curled in a tight ball
Not breaking it for anyone
Blood on the walls

I didn’t move that night
Refused to let him know
He got the best of me
A tear I wouldn’t show

He never came back that day
So from then on
I felt safe when in my ball
Safe forever long

I thought about my life
The pain I have endeared
But in my ball I was happy
I had nothing to fear

Every time he would come
In my ball I would go
Hiding in my best places
There he didn’t know

I remember at my birthday party
I was with all my friends
But he came for me
I was alone once again

Drunker then sh!t
He came after me
Because after the party was over
It was just him and me

My mom came running
Screaming for me
But I was in the locked bathroom
With him so no one could see

My mom banged for a few minutes
But finally gave up
She left for the bar
Getting away from the fuss

I looked in his evil eyes
My heart skipped a beat
Every word he spoke
Chills ran down from me

He made me get up
Grabbing on the sink
His belt met my back
Pain too much to think

Slashes from my neck
Down to my toes
I curled in the ball
And he left me alone

Many years later
My dads’ long and dead
But I still get scared
He’s forever in my head

In my dreams I hear him coming
I curl on the floor
He can’t get me now
Like he has before

Tight in my shell
In my little ball
Protection from him
Safe from it all…

I wrote this poem of a little girl’s life and the safe little world from her dad…
