Darkened Angel

by Tamara   Aug 18, 2008

Some see a boy on the brink of man hood
clothed all in black.
Others see the words branded on his back;
trouble maker, arrogant, lost case.
But when I look in those eyes
I see something else.

I see a young man aged beyond his years
because of countless trials and pains.
And there
past old scars and prickly walls,
I see a star.

A light from which spills the truth;
compassion, intelligence, love,
they all emanate from this rift
in his heart of hearts.

Through this glimpse
I see a different picture,
an angel,
shrouded in black,
with a shining heart
and hidden wings.

All this and more I see
when I look on his face
and into deep eyes.
