Song Bird

by Searching for Guidance   Aug 18, 2008

Inside me lies a song bird
Sometimes I hear it sing,
The faint, high voice, if it is heard,
Produces quite a ring.

But sometimes it stays quiet
Deep inside my soul.
No longer seeming vibrant,
I no longer feel whole.

I'd like to meet my song bird
I'd like to ask it why
If it wishes to be heard,
It does not soar through the sky?

For surely then it's melody
Could be heard loud and strong
By someone else, not just me
So they would start to sing along

Perhaps people would feel inspired,
To raise their own voices, speak out
Without even being required
To take the safe route.

But until then my song bird
Lives safe inside of me,
Until I can make it heard
And let that songbird free.
