Fairytale Shattered By Reality

by The Angel of Secrets   Aug 18, 2008

Stories told and written down on white paper in a book,
Stories of a princess, lovely gentleman and crook.
Battles be fought, good always to win,
And they lived happily ever after, never in sin.

Ballroom dresses on a perfectly normal day,
The right words told, always know what to say.
Silence never awkward, always perfect timing,
Songs sung, always spotless on the rhyming.

But normal people wear t-shirts and worn out jeans,
People speak words of wisdom, but no one knows what it means.
Sex, drugs and rock and roll is a part of people's lives,
There she stands, gazing gently, throwing out some knives.

She has lost her way, a purpose, but she doesn't really care,
In a couple of years, she might not even be there.
She's not mean or evil, just filled with anger, and completely misunderstood,
cause no one wants to understand that sad little girl from the hood.

She laughs at stories, but deep inside, there lies a burning hope,
That she doesn't have to turn to the alcohol, the sex and the dope.
Trying so hard to fight the pressure, to fight to be that girl,
But trust me when I say it's not easy to survive for me in this world.

I don't walk with real elegance in glass high heels,
I'm not good to express with words the way my inside really feels.
I'm a trained princess, a puppet up for show,
I'm not telling my secrets if no one wants to know.

Deep inside, I'm just like that girl throwing a knife,
Confused and broken, just trying to live my little life.
But the little kid inside me hopes, I'll be able to that princess,
Walking in high heels, wearing a diamond dress.

But I know better now, but when I was a kid, I wanted it I bet,
But happy endings are stories that just haven't finished yet.
Believing such things are foolish and very alarming.
Face it: There's no such thing as prince charming.
