Friendship

People claim to know what friendship is
Yet they always go against it

Friendship is about being honest saying
"Dude, you really messed up", not
"Girl, that skirt is gorgous"
When you don't really mean it

A friend may lie and say things
That make you feel better
But a true friend wouldn't lie
They'd tell you the truth even if ugly

I don't need someone's praise
I get enough of that from
Those who want a favor
In return for their praise

What I do need from someone
Is for them to look me in the eye
And tell me when I messed up
Without trying to make me feel better

A friend lets you know when it's your fault
Yet now people just want a favor for praise
