The Girl You See Is Not Yourself

by Mishka   Aug 20, 2008

Look at you smiling pretending that you are having so much fun
Look at you laughing at nothing funny at all
Look at you wearing all those ugly clothes
You think they're perfect because you got them at the mall
Well darlin', well, baby girl,
You're not awesome or cool just because you follow the rules
Darlin', sweet darlin'...
Just stop impressing us
We already know the rest
You want to be better
Better than the effin' best

But I'm sorry to interuppt your world
But just because you're cute
Doesn't mean you don't have to work
I'm sorry that this might sound rude
But you're not the one who was once booed
Who was picked last not only a few times but lots
Whose passion is bigger than an ocean
But still no one can even see
No one cares because they all look past the heart
They look past whatever they can't see
They think they know, but they don't know me

Just like they don't have a clue about you
What you wish for what you really want to do
They all see the outside of your reality
They can't go inside when so much is locked and there is no key
Darlin'...oh sweet darlin'
Don't look at them
Just look inside
Inside you will see yourself

What a wonderful poem hun. I really liked this line:
"No one cares because they all look past the heart"

It's so true and I think if people looked inside more often they'd be able to see the truth and apprciate people, and maybe, just maybe, the world wouldn't be so cold. You did a great portrayl of btoh sides of the argument here. 5/5
