The Bruise

by TheBarefootedCowgirl   Aug 21, 2008

Ouch mommy dont touch my face
Daddy hit me last night
There's a bruise there from when
I got in the middle of your fight

Why did you fight?
Why'd he want to hit you?
Did you do something wrong?
But why is he mad at me too?

Why are you crying?
When's Daddy gonna be home?
I'll play outside with Sissie now
So she wont be alone

Daddy you're home!
But why are you mad?
Mommy's inside
But she's really sad

Oh no they're yelling again
Sissie cover your ears
You dont need to hear that
Here, I'll wipe away your tears

What was that crash?
Now I'm starting to fear
But I'm not wondering why
The ambulance is here

Lights are blaring. sirens screaming
They rush Mommy away
Then the cops come with handcuffs
To take Daddy away

Now they're taking me and Sissie
Someplace they say we'll be safe
They'll heal the bruise on my heart
And the one on my face.

I thought the poem was simply put, which can be a good thing in some cases. I'm not gonna rave about this one, but it certainly deserves a 4/5.

Stained, I don't appreciate that last sentence in your comment. You do not talk to my Princess that way.
