Our Love Belongs

by Soulful Ensemble   Aug 21, 2008

Darling, looking to your face I'm sure
That I was meant to love you all along.
But our eyes were closed so long
It took our colliding misery to make it strong.

Holding your hand, I feel, conjures
Happiness that flows in song
And none of my thoughts could be wrong
When I think of you I do belong.

And we were so lost, not seeing
That our love could be a being
So perfect that tainted words
Would be turned to lovely birds.

I'd like to sing you many songs
And hold you all day long.
My heart against you throngs
And nothing can feel wrong.

I see your face when I close my eyes
And the image burned into my soul.
The dying leaves of Autumn soon will cry
But I can only feel I'm whole
And nothing falls out of my mind
That someone else can pick and find.

Thoughts of you stay around with me
No matter that you've stepped outside.
And when I leave I feel so free
Because I carry you around inside.

And if your hands fell I'd be your hands
And if your eyes went blind I'd be your eyes.
And if you lost your body in the sand
I'd dig until I find what lies.

I know you're pure inside
Deep in your soul.
And sensuality doesn't cry
When you meet a goal.

Our love's belonged
For very long.
And we were blind
But now I'm strong.

I'm ready to love you
The best I can.
And make you smile
And be a man.
