The Ruling Darkness' Company

by kathy   Aug 23, 2008

Abandoned in the street,
Left with no one in sight.
The chilly air clutching your cold feet.
Your spirit, crushed and unable to fight.

Ignored by the that people pass by
No one even notices your screams and cries
Alone in your sorrow and darkness
Having no one important to you, aware of your uselessness

A kitten passes by
You clutch it by your side
Grasping it close to you
In the freezing snow, you help it abide

It looks so unwanted
Unneeded by everyone else
Yet you appreciate its company
Since you're both under the same spell

Dark meets darker
Misery loves company
And it's only when the darkness impedes you to see
You'll see a small flickering light that holds your warmth's key
