Let me be Free

by Melissa   Aug 23, 2008

Again your eyes pierce mine in a steady glance
For so long I've felt you haven't been giving me a chance.
Never allowed to explain myself or to strive for what I want.
Locked up within these bars, it's my happiness you taunt.

This mind is occupied with silly dreams and riding on the winds back
When I am awake, reality seems so surreal, so black.
The chains in which you keep me will not imprison my soul.
My spirit is roaming free, while you may think you have control.

Sunlight shines through the cracks between the curtains of the pane
You've shut out the world, parading on your high domain.
The words you yell are lucid and in a heavy tone.
There has been no 'I love you' or apologies that you've made known.

Tonight I'll dream about the family we could be.
If you'd agree, I know we could get past all this ruble and debris.
Just have a little faith, and hold a bit more trust
In order for me to succeed, letting go is a must.
