The willow tree

by jodie   Aug 23, 2008

Hundreds of years underground
hard thick roots tied and bound
my heavy base strong as iron
cascading branches the mane of a lion
Ive seen harsh winters
Ive seen better summers
Ive seen bright springs
in seen Autumn blusters

although my bark is rough and worn
the welcome i give your receive is warm
my leaves in the sun are glowing yellow
as the breeze blows past soft and mellow
although my base is drowned in weeds
my strong upper body soon succeeds
to touch the sun so far away
i grow taller stronger everyday

through my strong green color you'll soon see
I'm nothing more then a willow tree

Wow very simple yet complex and I think I like your poem. I have had a few willow trees in my life and think we can all benefit from the silent tears they shed. very nice
