When Butterflies Fall

by Prince Jared   Aug 23, 2008

Fire falls from an open sky
While we all scream and die
Some things don't make sense
If we make it over the fence

Pools of blood surround us all
While they take the deadly fall
Why didn't you use your head
And cry yourself to sleep instead?

Never turn your back onto me
While the lies told burn up trees
No one has ever told you to stay
But to always ignore forgotten pain

Do they rest now to sweet dreams
While the bitter reality always seems
To spiral out of control, take cover
When everything is blamed on each other

So hold your eyes closed forever
While my smile creates the stir
All of Heaven's been crying for you
Will they ever listen to the ocean blue?

Me and you, stuck here with hope
While this burning world desperately gropes
For one last step of healing blind faith
As we hold each other to our ashen stake
