The Darkness Within

All alone in darkness,
I evolve into a new me.
I forget the fake smile,
And all else im forced to be.

I can forget about trying,
To impress the people i hate.
I can stop worrying about feelings,
And embrace my given fate.

The darkness has become my inside,
Its now all i want to know.
Occasionally i feel it on the outside,
But im forced to make it go.

Im surrounded people of light,
Who dont fake their smile.
But if they could see the other side,
Even just for a little while.

If they could step into my shoes,
And walk through my day.
Would they work out what it takes,
To force this pain away?

Do you think they'd understand,
What it feels like each breath?
How much pain you go through to live,
What it takes to take each step?

I dont think they'd even try,
To walk through my day.
I know they know it hurts,
They wouldn't wish their fate away...
