Curse of Darkness.

by Daphne Darling   Jun 5, 2004

As the winter night draws on,
The cold wind blowing in my hair,
A candle the only light I have,
As the light flickers on extinction,
I wander forth faster, my step fast,
The candle begins to grow low,
I am walking in near darkness,
My feet stumble and I fall,
The candle flies from my hand,
Now I am in complete darkness,
I look above and wonder why,
Why did this happen to me?
Why was my light taken from me?
It was taken swiftly, with no mercy,
Now I walk in the darkness,
Seeing nothing of the truth,
What has forsaken me,
To put me in such a place as this,
Why am I condemned to walk in darkness?
God above show me the light again,
Show me what it is like,
To feel your presence,
Let me feel it once again,
Flowing through my body,
Don’t let my faith in you,
Wander from where you stand,
Don’t let my daemons loose,
Don’t let them run wild,
Free me from this curse,
Let me live in the light again,
Don’t make me live in darkness,
I don’t want this,
Set me free of this,
Let my feet walk the right path,
Take me from the darkness,
Put me back in the light,
I was a fool,
To believe that I could be free,
Without you watching me,
Now I know better,
So let me back in the light,
The darkness is to complete,
It is sending me crazy.

This poem I understood completely. The candle metaphore was excellent. Perfect. There is no flaws in your writing. It's all beautiful. I just wish you could write something happy! :( Hell I can't either, so what am I sayin?:-)
