Escape

by MyxPeacefulxChaos   Aug 29, 2008

Within four walls,
Beneath an old cover,
A restless mind searches,
For a realm to discover.

Without any light,
And devoid of color,
A forest emerges,
To echo the voice of the caller.

With thoughts like trees,
Overlapping at random,
Leaves rustling in rumination,
Flutter furiously in freedom.

Withstanding roots,
Rigid and binding,
Rebellious calls rise and beckon,
Never subsiding.

Withal the din,
One voice streams true.
"This waste of a risk,
Is a worthy dream to pursue."

Is this about an old landscape painting in an attic? I don't know if that's as you intended, but as soon as I read the line "without any light" I started building a mental picture of... well, a picture. Even the closing lines speak to me of sudden discovery and an assumption of greater worth than visual beauty.

Thank you for something so verbally luscious!
