This was us.

by Helene   Aug 31, 2008

This was us, this was then,
And how could you ever dare to forget,
What we were, what we meant,
That you traded for a life without instead.
This was love, this was true,
This was all I thought I needed,
Nothing more but only you,
What we had and what we did.
This was painful, this was hard,
Worth every second of a fight,
If I could only reach your heart,
And keep you with me for a night.
This was back when we were young,
This was back when I was blind,
How do you ever again deny,
That you're not always on my mind.
This was us, this was then,
Not important enough to make you remember,
The burning lust of summertime,
The cold we fought in our December.
This was us, this was then,
Tell me why and tell me when,
So I can believe, the way as you,
That what we shared was never true.
