A Lost Love

by DistantKisses   Sep 1, 2008

It's funny how years can go by.
Without a reminder.

Then within a blink of any eye.
Something triggers inside.

All the memories of a past love.
Come flooding back.

You can't stop it.
You can't control it.

And it hurts.
As if it's eating you alive inside.

Remembering is the most painful thing.
About a lost love.

The what ifs begin to plague your mind.
Your imagination takes hold.

If I did something different,
Would you be here?

If I never said those things,
Would you still care?

If I pretended to be someone you wanted,
Would be still be by my side?

A lost love haunts through the decades.
Eating you away inside.

How true, I feel this almost daily, so can really relate to it whole-heartedly. Good write!
