Weightless

by Kira   Sep 1, 2008

The bright morning sun penetrates the crystal clear water above me.

My hair streams along, auburn locks on fire in the brilliant light.

I softly move my arms, propelling myself through the cool water.

Sparkling silver fish tickle my skin as they brush past in schools of hundreds.

I close my eyes, feeling the water flow over me.

I am free.

No tangled seaweed to wrap around my ankles and pull me down,

Down to the pitch black waters below where unfamiliar creatures dwell, waiting,

Waiting to devour my insecurities as they drag me deeper.

But here, just below the surface,

With the sun so close and the bright blue waters surrounding me,

I am weightless.

Excellent stanza, great imagery that really gave the reader a clear image. Nice work, this is most definetly a very beautiful nature poem. Keep writing, always and forever....
