I Am

I am just another girl,
Behind that closed door.
Think what you may...
But I am nothing more.

I am God's little strangler.
An old, forgotten friend.
I am full of broken pieces,
No one cares to mend.

I am nothing too special.
I am falling apart.
Trials only weaken me.
Wear holes in my heart.

I am trying, to fail.
I get up, to fall down.
Laugh as you may.
As I fall to the ground.

I am lending a hand.
To those like me.
I am helping them up,
But they're too blind to see.

I am smiling to hide.
I cry out my pain.
I try to move on...
But no distance I gain.

To those who move on.
To those who break through.
Smile your smile...

I wish I was like you.

    This poem is very moving. The way your words rymed seemed to flow really well, unlike mine which seem a little forced at times. I also like where you say, "I try to move on... But no distance I gain." I have gone through many hardships in my life, as I'm certain you have too, and there are always people I encounter who don't understand where I'm coming from or why I still hurt inside from the pain of my past. Their favorite phrases are: "Get over it" or "You just need to move on" or "Forget about it already!" It's not as easy as just "moving on," and I think you show that this is true. I've tried to forget my misgivings, and I've tried to move on with my life as you probably have, but it just doesn't happen that simply. Anyway, excellent poem dear. I can't wait to read the others.

    Awwww.....this is so sad, but you expressed your real feelings in this wonderfully, and this was so touching.
