Wallflower

by QuietDreamer   Sep 3, 2008

I watch quietly in the backdrop
Trying to summon the courage
To sit with someone,
Anyone, who has a pulse

So with all the bravery I can muster
I parade through the tables
Searching for an empty chair
Where i may reside

"Sorry, someone else is sitting there."
"I need that space for my backpack."
"No, we can't be seen with you!"
I've heard them all before

Another pathetic attempt has failed
With half the lunch period left
I saunter back to the wall
Fading into the background once again

In this world where we judge
Before we even meet the person
What's to happen to the timid wallflowers
On the outside looking in?

    This poem is beautiful
i loved every bit of it.
    and i can truly relate,
    my absolute favourite stanza:
"In this world where we judge
Before we even meet the person
What's to happen to the timid wallflowers
On the outside looking in? "

this poem is full of imagination and i can tell it came from the heart.
