When We Drift

by Loveless   Sep 6, 2008

Do you remember a time
When you actually looked at me
Instead of through me
Like I don't exist anymore

I once asked you if you hated me
And of course you replied no
Then I thought that hate wasn't right
You can't really hate someone
You no longer know exists

There used to be a time
When we could talk about anything
But now I can't even remember
The last time I heard your voice

I guess I became a ghost too you
Just a face from the past
I should have known
All the good times
Would never truly last

But I still hoped
That you wouldn't leave me
Like all the others
But I guess in the end
You're just like everyone else

You're the one that started the gap
I just finished its spread
Now its to deep and to wide
To even think about crossing it

So now there is no way
To return to what we had
And it hurts like hell
To know I lost another friend

This is a really great poem - in the 6th verse it should be "too" not to, but other than that, no critique i get it. especially the part about not hating someone who doesn't even exist . . . and i know what you mean about even the important people being just like everyone else at the end of the day. great writing ;)

It's always the worst thing to lose a friend. Unfortunately I know all too well of that. Great job portraying the emotions.
