Atrophy*

by Helena Jaster   Sep 6, 2008

Around me pulses the surging sea
Its influence harking my words of fear
But condemning me with its presence
The untold story of a man lost at sea
Adrift and alone

My body becomes limp and feeble
Driven down by hunger
But unable to find solace in the stores around me
As I thirst for other things
And hunger for the sight of hollowed ground

No break in the horizon can I see
The wind and the waters punishing me
For the sins of the world
One I am set apart from
But indelibly connected with

As the waves bob up and down
Collapsing on the deck of the ship
Making the woodwork creak
And the fates smile
But alas here I am

My life to drift eternally
On a vessel that shall not sink
In a ocean that is much to wide
In a world that sits well too well with the thought
Of a life absent from fault

Wow thats really good, my favorite line would have to be the two last ones, i loved the imagy it was like i could see the whole poem playing out in my head, i liked how you have the man condemmed to the sea but still he sees the irony in it
