I Raise You Up (For Princess Emmi)

by Prince Jared   Sep 6, 2008

A shadow falls in behind you
You're all alone, hurt, and crying
It's your past again, mocking you
And sneering at you for even trying

You stumble along an empty street
Not knowing where to go for freedom
Tears blind your eyes and fall to your feet
While you silently battle all your demons

Old scars on your wrist scream out
As your hands tremble with false guilt
When you're feeling your worst, you fall down
And your past mocks you as you fall in the silt

But then, I jump to your side to defend
I wield my sword of truth unflinchingly
Your past tries to drag you to your end
As I swiftly hug you close to me

I say, "You may have her if you want
But you'll have to go through Us"
Your past blinks hard, then away he stomps
Because you, my dear Princess, have me and Jesus

We will never leave you alone ever
We have killed your past and set you free
We will both raise you up forever and ever
Because we both love you, Emilee
