It happened about a month ago,
And it showed all over the news.
A group of three inside the car,
The whole world could see the view.
They were driving way too fast,
Coming home from Shawnigan Lake.
They took a turn when all went silent,
Unsure of how long the results would take.
One boy up and walked to call for help,
while the other two remained in the car.
The driver got out okay,
But the girl needed help by far.
It took just over half an hour
with help from the Jaws Of Life,
To use a rope and stretcher rescue,
Working hard and fast against this strife.
Seeing her on the news,
I thought she'd be okay,
But then I heard she was Flown to Vancouver
To be In ICU that very same day.
Her family received the phone call
at 2:30 in the morning.
Their daughter was undergoing major surgery
and over 400 people went into mourning.
We waited weeks for the results
Of the girl with 3 broken places in her back,
while she suffered from additional head and neck injuries.
Hoping her recovery was on the right track.
I dream about her now and then,
Still waiting for her to come home.
I worry about her in Vancouver,
Lying all alone.
For right now she's doing fine,
But home isn't home without her.
And of course she's still in ICU,
All I can do is sit and pray for her.
**This was written for a dear friend named Natalia..
She was in a car accident and suffered major injuries shortly after grad.
She's done with her surgeries, but There isn't an inch of emotion that doesn't worry about her.
