Summer's gone.

by Anthony M   Sep 11, 2008

Summer dwindles to its conclusion
Autumn steals away her warm glow
leaving me with a sad illusion
as she turns away from me to go.

Her loving touch becomes evanescent
though her smiling eyes linger in my thoughts
and her memory in my mind always present,
blissful happiness to my life she brought.

Streets now quiet and deserted
just an empty feeling inside,
where we once freely flirted.
In loneliness my heart now resides.

Winter's harshness threatens in the distance
no forecast this year shall be needed,
I already know it will be the coldest in existence.
Love's subtle warning, I should have heeded.

    Well....surely you will next time....
especially after such graceful, penetrating pondering this time
of one of the grand metaphors given us by Nature...

Very nice. Captures how I feel about winter approaching as well as comparing it to love.
