    Anthony,

My dear friend Soso told me of this poem and I agree: it's breathtaking!
You swept me away too with your sad but ever so romantic words....

    Streets now quiet and deserted
    just an empty feeling inside,
    where we once freely flirted.
In loneliness my heart now resides.
^^^the pain that comes from knowing this will never return can leave you feeling like you will choke on it...I know of this pain:(

    A very beautiful poem, Anthony!

    What a hauntingly sad piece.

    Her loving touch becomes evanescent
though her smiling eyes linger in my thoughts
and her memory in my mind always present,
blissful happiness to my life she brought.

The memories of what were. A fading love like a fading season. Great imagery.

    Streets now quiet and deserted
    just an empty feeling inside,
    where we once freely flirted.
In loneliness my heart now resides.

The pain and heartache of loneliness is a terrible pain to have. Just memories all that is left of the happy times.

Winter's harshness threatens in the distance
no forecast this year shall be needed,
I already know it will be the coldest in existence.
Love's subtle warning, I should have heeded.

The comparison of the winter cold to living without your love is great. How harsh and cold your life has now become with out the warmth of love.
    Great job!

Very nice. Captures how I feel about winter approaching as well as comparing it to love.

    Well....surely you will next time....
especially after such graceful, penetrating pondering this time
of one of the grand metaphors given us by Nature...
