Behind A Mask

by Tamon G   Jun 5, 2004

I hide my face from you like I'm
wearing a mask.
Giving off the appearance of another,
which is not me.
All you can see is my eyes, as you
catch me staring at you from a far.
Everyday for me is like Halloween,
but no candies, or saying trick or treat.
Not knowing if you see my true colours,
that you would enjoy what you see,
or give me a look of disgust.
I'm distant from you, being locked
away in my own circle of friends.
I'm the phantom of the opera.
Hiding behind a mask, playing and
saying the beauty that lives inside.
I hope you can hear the music, which
I play.
Cause the day that you do, I will
no longer hide.
