Don't like the shadow I see

by Tangible heartache   Sep 12, 2008

Staring at the mirror,
I see a frightening sight,
Someone I don't recognize,
Thinking, that's not right,

She's much to thin,
Eyes like black stones,
Her face is skinnier,
And she is just skin and bones,

Bags under her eyes,
From lack of sleep,
Scars on her arms,
Pain going so deep,

A smile that was once there,
Is now gone, never shown,
The girl I see is afraid of the world,
And tired of being so alone,

Her once beautiful self,
Is now hidden deep inside,
A shadow of a girl,
In this world forever to hide,

You can see,
Looking into her eyes,
The girl that's in there,
Is so tired of these lies,

Her heart aching for the truth,
People to just understand,
That this wasn't what was supposed to be,
This was unplanned,

Staring still at the mirror,
I don't like what I see,
Tears fall from my eyes,
As I see, that person is me.
