No Faith

Once upon a time long ago there was a little girl,
Who enjoyed swinging on rusted old swing sets,
She had big dreams she wished would soon uncurl,
She wanted to live a life full of no regrets.

Her family was complete; loving and very caring,
A great big house in the suburbs of Cincinnati,
The rays of her life were bright and beaming,
Every morning as she held tight her cuddly bunny.

She had everything she ever wanted; friends,
She had a father who worked, a mother who cooked,
Brothers who love her and do anything to defend,
Until one day she came home from school; looked.

Her mother on the floor with blood spurting out,
Of cuts from her face, her neck and her arms,
Apparently her parents got into a huge blowout,
Agonizing pain swarms.

Soon enough that lead to divorce papers; divorce court,
Brown card board boxes surrounded her home,
On that one gloomy afternoon walking from school,
Her mind lurking around- beginning to roam.

All her dreams came crashing on down,
She no longer had a perfect family any more,
Mother, brothers and her moved to a different town,
To keep their hearts from getting sore.

When really this was just the beginning of pain,
She was a daddy's girl for always and for ever,
To her composition notebook she tried to explain,
Just how her life and dreams wouldn't get any better.
