Red, red roses

by NineteenMinutes   Sep 13, 2008

There will be no grieving visitors or people shedding tears,
You're back in the garden that you loved for years,
There'll be no more smiling for you are no more,
but there'll be red, red roses when the winter does thaw,
you never saw the snowdrops bloom one last bloom,
and so now when i see them i fill with gloom,
but there by the rose bush, which underneath you lie,
i stand in silence no tears left to cry,
the years will go by in no time at all,
the leaves on the tree will turn orange and fall,
but when the red, red roses catch my eye,
I'll think of you and I'll know you didn't die.

...for granddad
