Snake Warrior, his island sits A coral fort above this marsh His energy, it still emits From his lifetime's battles harsh. The breeze blows steady, seaward bound Through lily pads and Spanish Moss Hides the cries and battle sounds And ghosts of lives in battles lost. Seminole Wars he bravely fought To set his tribe and people free But so much misery was wrought In the pages of our history. Now he haunts the humid haze His spirit, banyan trees enshroud Reigning here with steady gaze Standing tall, a warrior proud. If you should chance visit this park A place of great tranquility Recall the deeds as you take your walk Of brave Seminole chief Tustenuggee.
