Bandit

by Katie   Sep 14, 2008

Word cannot express
the joys you gave us,
Akwys ready to smile,
even when it had been a while,
since we smiled for you.
You were the cutest little guy,
stealing our socks
and picking fights
with big dogs.
If I write until the
end of time,
I still could not
find the perfect rhyme,
for you.
I miss you still,
and love you I always will.
I'll see you again,
old friend.

This was written for Bandit, my dog who I'd had since I was 4. He got run over at the very end of my eighth grade year, and it was like losing the sweetest little brother you could ever imagine.

I really like this, simply because of the subject the poem is about.

Many people don't realize how hard it is to lose a pet, some just think "oh it's just an animal what's the big deal" but for animal lovers and those who their pet is their best friend, it can be extremely devesating and you portray this well throughout the piece.

All that needs fixing in this is a couple of spelling errors.

Even though it looks rushed, this is a lovely tribute. It would be so easy to write something that just oozed sadness, but by introducing us to Bandit's personality and antics you've given us a much brighter and meaningful sentiment. I don't think there's anyone on here who hasn't lost a beloved pet that won't appreciate what you've got here.
