I, You, We

by Jacob Davis   Sep 15, 2008

I used to think that I could never get out of this.
I used to think that you would be my ball and chain.
I used to make up excuses,
That me leaving you would put you thru too much pain.

So just take this knife,
And cut it out.
Cut out the part that cared for you.
Pack it in ice,
Replace it with salt,
Keep the scars just to remind me we're thru.

You used to convince me we were perfect,
You used to tell me we would never see this day.
You used to fake a smile just for me,
That was so believable, the things you would say.

So take this life,
And throw it out.
Forget what I made you sacrifice.
Who I am to kid,
I could never suffice.

We used to be so normal,
We used to be just you and I.
We used to be anything but formal,
That was apparently just a lie.

So just move on,
Continue as you are.
Leave me out high and dry.
I hope you're happy,
I hope he's better.
Better for you, than I.

I really enjoyed reading this. I love the style. It's so different but it works perfectly here. I love how you put so many deep emotions in here as well. Keep it up. Shanik
