The sheep (perspective one)

by resisting reason   Sep 15, 2008

You preach fear in fifty forms
To make us believe
Because through fire scorched and scorned
You know we'll never leave

For fear of darkness and pain
We'll follow you
Because we're all the same
We want it to be true

So with our eyes we choose to see
Only things that do not betray
The lies that we choose to keep
That keep us ignorant and afraid

Trusting in what you're preaching
The all holy word
We'll follow the teachings
Just like we'll follow the herd

And you are our shepherd
A leader of men
Your will be tempered
We'll follow you to the end

We only ask that you find
The wolf amongst sheep
And leave him behind
To wallow and weep

Shield us from thought and reason
And protect the weak and weary
Guide us through the seasons
And lead us to sanctuary

Open the gates and let us through
To reach the father, to who we have come
We'll follow you
Until our journey is done
