A Voting Matter

by Melissa   Sep 16, 2008

They've all betted against me but I am no longer in shock
Took long enough, but I can now read the time in the prolonged clock.
Discarded me, like a pen no longer filled with ink
Fed up with the gossip, I turned away with out a blink

Invited on a whim? No -- it took a group vote.
Never good enough, treated like the phlegm caught in the back of the throat.
Chewed up and spit me out, on repeat.
Whispers are never hushed, never discreet.

They will go on treating people like the dirt in-between their toes
Or like the used up tissue right after, they blow their nose.
It took several years to see, but now I have opened my eyes
I now know truth, and am done with the childish lies.

Maybe it is true that I am annoying and hard to be around
Whatever they want to say, I am perfectly happy with the friends, I have found.
A few friends are all you really need to be content.
I know they have my back and won't base our friendship off a voting, percent.
